Dates coming for the next edition

These conferences are expected to return, and most will publish dates a few months after their current edition wraps. We list them now so you can shortlist the ones that fit your family, and we add dates the moment organizers announce them.

Homeschool conventions (74)

The convention circuit: state conventions, curriculum fairs, and family expos with vendor halls, workshops, and programming for children and teens. Many carry a Christian heritage and a growing set of inclusive and secular expos rounds out the list, so each description notes the orientation to help your family find the right room.

Alternative education conferences (6)

Conferences from the broader alternative-education world: Charlotte Mason, classical education, democratic schools, microschools, and school-choice fairs. Worldschooling families borrow freely from all of them.

Unschooling gatherings (2)

Conferences and reunions built on self-directed learning. Less lecture, more conversation; the closest cousins to worldschooling on this list.

Looking for worldschooling gatherings instead?

They are not on this page, and that is deliberate. Worldschooling families gather at hubs, pop-up weeks, retreats, and family camps: places you stay for weeks, not conferences you attend for a weekend. Those all live in the hub directory, which maps 600+ worldschooling hubs and programs across 68 countries. Keeping them out of this calendar keeps both lists clear.

A conference gives you a weekend of inspiration. A hub gives your children friends and your family a village.

Conference questions, answered

What parents ask when they start choosing a convention.

For many families, yes, at least once. A good convention lets you hold curriculum in your hands before buying, sit in workshops with experienced parents, and meet the co-ops and programs near you. The key is choosing one whose philosophy matches yours: many state conventions carry a Christian heritage, while a growing set of inclusive and secular expos welcomes every kind of family.

Most organizers publish the next edition's dates a few months after the current one wraps, and the big convention season runs March through July. That is why so many 2027 editions are listed here without dates yet. We refresh this calendar as announcements land, so checking back beats chasing dozens of organizer websites.

Start with fit, then distance. Check the organizer's orientation (Christian, Catholic, secular, or broadly inclusive) against your family's, look at whether the program leans workshops or vendor hall, and see what is offered for children and teens so the day works for the whole family. A smaller regional expo near home is often a better first experience than the biggest convention in the country.

Very few, in the convention-center sense. A handful of worldschooling summits ran in the 2010s and several have gone quiet since 2020. Worldschooling families gather somewhere else entirely: at hubs, pop-up weeks, retreats, and family camps, which are places you stay rather than events you attend. Those live in the Edventures hub directory, not on this page.

At hubs: place-based communities where cohorts of traveling families stay for weeks at a time, from Southeast Asia to Latin America to Europe. The Edventures directory maps 600+ worldschooling hubs and programs across 68 countries on a live map. You can browse the preview without an account, and membership unlocks the full directory: parent reviews, pricing, and direct links to each program.

A conference is a weekend. Community is the point.

Use the calendar to plan your conferences, then go deeper: our guides walk you through starting out, the hub directory shows you where worldschooling families gather year-round, and the community puts you in the room with parents already living it.
